4 Awesome Bibles for Children
Purchasing a bible for a child can be a daunting task with all the versions available. Here are 4 Bibles I have personally used as a Children's Minister and as a mom.
1. Children of God Storybook Bible by Desmond Tutu. I love this bible because it features a dark skinned Jesus, beautiful illustrations and has a short story followed by a prayer. These bible stories are best read aloud, in my opinion.
2. Jesus Calling Bible Storybook by Sarah Young. I love this storybook because each bible story is paired with a short devotional. The illustrations are appealing to children, the stories are short, and (in my opinion) excellent for 6 to 10 year olds.
3. CEB Deep Blue Kids Bible is not a storybook bible but the Common English Bible translation. It is great for strong readers in the 9 to 12 year old range. This bible has very few pictures but does have little notes and explanations in the margins. The blue leather binding makes for a beautiful gift or award Bible.
4. Group's My First Hands on Bible is perfect for preschoolers (ages 3 through 6 years old). I used this Bible with my son when he was a preschooler and we loved it! It combines well-known bible stories with a biblical point, prayer, questions, and actions. The story even has prompts for motions.
